Staude MULTY-FLY is a fully automated carrier for microfiche scanning which can be used on Minolta and Canon microfilm scanners. It is capable of scanning all types of microfiche and jackets fully auto-matically.

The special characteristic of this microfiche scanning device is that it recognizes the position of each frame by performing a prescan. The recognized frame positions are saved on a controller circuit board and passed on to the scanner during the
scanning process.

Installation and operation is very easy:

The Staude MULTY-FLY can be installed on all available microfiche scanners of Canon and Minolta. Simply remove the standard micro-fiche carrier and replace it with the MULTY-FLY. The unit has its own 115 / 230 V power supply. Communication takes place via serial V24 interface.

When the device is operational and the software running the MULTY-FLY automatically moves to the loading position. The flat film media is simply inserted by hand. The prescan which recognizes all individual frames on the media takes only three seconds. After the prescan is completed the carrier moves to the first frame. By using the arrow keys it is possible to move to any of the prescanned images and start your film scan from there. Upon starting the scan program all recognized images will be scanned automatically. After finishing the last scan the MULTY-FLY moves back to the load position and is ready to start again.

The frames of standard microfiche formats or COM fiche are located by three-point-adjustment.

Inspection of the scanned images takes place during operation. While post-scan editing is usually not necessary, it can be done if required by pausing the scanning process.

The mechanics and electronics of the Staude MULTY-FLY are based on the patented microfiche camera CODUFIDEX which has proven reliablity for almost 20 years. The device is accurate to a tolerance of 0.05 mm. Further the MULTY-FLY is nearly maintenance free.

With the use of two Staude MULTY-FLY it is possible to digitize up to 1400 images per hour.This perfor-mance is equivalent to other high speed fiche scanners but only requires half the investment.
